This album was inspired by "Altered States," a movie from years ago. wherein a man discovers himself through a sensory deprivation tank. My vision was to make an album where each track plays a sequential part in telling a fictitious story of mine - one of a future where meditation in an isolation chamber or tank is something one could do and in the process could discover a light or darkness of their soul.

I thought about what it would be if there was an institute or facility that could allow one to visit and do such a thing. Each song in this series then chronicles that journey.

From the initial "Gate Ident" that signifies the "checking in" process to the "Vestigial" remnants that follow you home from the experience at the end, the songs are meant to be listened to in series.

"Alleles" and "Diploid" are the entrance tunes, if you will, that are part of the journey there and initial set-up. "Respir" is the central focal point of the album where the relaxation portion begins the final transition to the sensory deprivation of "Operon" and the strangely-named "Kleinfelder Apoptosis."

One can grow from isolation. It takes patience and a willingness to look at "the self" as a separate but conjoined person. If you get a chance, watch "Altered States." It's scary, but interesting and maybe you'll like it. Who knows.
